Aguilar School welcomed students back with new Chromebooks and a new hearing machine through donated funds.
San Isabel Electric Association’s Board of Directors provided a total donation of $2,751. Basin Electric Power Cooperative, the co-op’s power supplier, matched the donation with an additional $2,751.
The co-op donated towards new Chromebooks across secondary classrooms. As the new school year is going strong, students from sixth to twelfth grade will benefit from this donation by becoming 21st century learners through technology.
“Our teachers were very excited that San Isabel Electric donated 12 Chromebooks to the school. It reaffirms to them that there is a supportive educational culture ‘out there’” Aguilar School Superintendent Dr. Stacy Houser said.
The donation also covered the cost of replacing a 25-year-old hearing machine. The machine will be used for state standardize hearing tests as well as preventative screenings. The machine will also be open for use to the community, under a nurse’s supervision.
“Donations like this let the students know that there is a broader community than Aguilar that is interested in them and their success. It helps them realize the importance of community life and models how they should be as adults” Houser said.
