The Pueblo County Fair kicked off this week, and the Showcase Sale is fast approaching! If you are looking for a way to support the youth participating in the sale, consider a pool bid. This is a way to reward these young exhibitors’ hard work without purchasing an animal or attending the sale yourself. These kids put in a ton of work behind the scenes to raise and care for these animals. The experience benefits them far beyond the showcase sale. Your support helps to provide these young folks with this valuable experience.

Caring for these animals demands an immense amount of dedication. The kids who look after these animals spend hours in the summer heat and winter cold feeding, grooming, and keeping their animals healthy. These experiences develop their work ethic in a unique way.

Pueblo County Fair Board President Shane Roberts believes the showcase sale is a fantastic opportunity for Pueblo youth to demonstrate their talents and learn important skills such as leadership, responsibility, and teamwork.

“The fair and showcase sale plays a pivotal role in youth development, offering a supportive environment for young people to learn, grow, and thrive,” Roberts said.

The process of raising an animal for the Showcase Sale is not only rigorous, but expensive. That’s why local electric cooperative San Isabel Electric has made an annual tradition of donating $5,000 to support what they believe to be valuable experience for Pueblo Youth.

The co-op extends the same generosity to Huerfano, Las Animas, and Pueblo County Fairs annually when it’s financially feasible.
