The Friends of Aguilar, San Isabel Electric and other sponsors will be celebrating Aguilar on Saturday, August 4, with a parade, cars, trucks and live music.

“The events we produce provide a time for citizens and visitors to truly appreciate one another and the small town we all share. We provide activities for children and teens during times when they otherwise have nothing to do,” the Friends of Aguilar said in their sponsorship donation request to San Isabel Electric.

San Isabel Electric’s Board of Directors provided a $1,000 sponsorship. Basin Electric Power Cooperative matched the donation with an additional $1,000.

The event kicks off with a parade at 10 a.m., followed by a car and truck show, kids activities, food and craft vendors and live music performances by Whiskey Creek from Trinidad, Tom Munch from La Veta and Kerry Sciacca Campbell from Aguilar.

“We take pride in investing in events like this festival. We’re not just investing money to help put on a parade and country dance. We’re investing in bringing the people of this community together, because at the end of the day, the most important part of San Isabel Electric is the people in it,” San Isabel Electric Board Director Joseph Costa said.
