San Isabel Electric scholarship applications are now open. Applications are open to students who will begin their adventure in higher education in the fall of 2023.

The electric cooperative utility offers scholarship opportunities for students with various backgrounds and career goals. The board of directors awards scholarships to students:

  • Graduating high school and entering college the consecutive year
  • Who will be the first to attend college in their family
  • Seeking a two-year degree or certificate program
  • Students who took a few years off after graduating or after beginning college and are now embarking on or returning to a higher education path.

Last year, San Isabel Electric awarded a record $39,000 in scholarship awards. Scholarships are typically a one-time, $1,000 award. However, the top scoring applicants will be invited to interview with the board of directors for a chance to compete for an additional $4,000 Powered-Up Scholarship.

The co-op recommends starting the application process early. Applications require a copy of the student’s most recent transcript, two letters of recommendation, a resume, and essay. Applications are due by 5 p.m. on February 15.

All scholarship opportunities require the applicant or the student’s parent(s) or legal guardian(s) to buy electricity from San Isabel Electric. A full list of eligibility requirements is available at siea.com/scholarships.
