Our History
Serving Southern Colorado since 1938
San Isabel Electric Association, Inc. was founded in 1938 by a small group of rural neighbors in Beulah, Colorado. They, too, wanted the electricity that was illuminating the cities they’d visited. So, they pooled money together to bring electricity to the area and the Association was born, expanding to our current 19,000 Members over seven territory-districts in Southern Colorado, reaching 24,000 meters. San Isabel Electric Association is the most innovative electric cooperative in the region, constantly investigating cutting-edge technology and helping Members to make responsible energy decisions. We are all about affordability (no rate increases until 2020 with a 5-10 year goal of having the lowest electricity rates in Southern Colorado) reliability (we have a massive program to upkeep and enhance the infrastructure, as well as 24/7 outage reporting and dispatch response) and service we provide our Member-owners with a quality of service that is designed to exceed their expectations; our commitment to community and charitable donations are a testament to our deep investment in the communities we serve.
