Josh Valdez of the Walsenburg Housing Authority shakes hands with San Isabel Electric Energy Services Manager Jack Snell, who presented Valdez with a $10,920 rebate check. San Isabel Electric pays Members cash when certain appliances are replaced with Energy Star appliances.

WALSENBURG, CO – June 11, 2018 – A San Isabel Electric Member was presented at $10,920 rebate check for upgrading their old refrigerators for Energy Star-rated refrigerators.

The Walsenburg Housing Authority was presented a rebate check by San Isabel Electric’s Energy Services Manager Jack Snell on Monday, June 11, 2018.

“Appliance upgrades that save energy and money in utility costs really makes sense.  Because we are receiving this rebate, we are going to be able to purchase more Energy Star rated refrigerators and replace the remaining old ones ahead of schedule.  It is a big benefit to us,” Walsenburg Housing Authority Maintenance Supervisor Josh Valdes said.

Through San Isabel Electric’s rebate program, the Walsenburg Housing Authority purchased 78 Energy Star refrigerators. Tri-State Generation and Transmission, the co-op San Isabel Electric purchases power from, provided $7,202 of the rebate. San Isabel Electric provided $3,900 of the rebate.

In 2017, more than $83,000 in rebates were returned to Members. While there are numerous energy-efficiency rebates available to consumers, only San Isabel Electric Members are eligible to participate in San Isabel Electric’s residential and commercial rebate programs.

“The rebate program and the expert advice available from Jack and Benji, our Energy Services Team, are two great benefits of being a member of San Isabel Electric.  I hope all members, both residential and commercial, will utilize these programs and receive the benefits they offer,” San Isabel Electric Director Jacque Sikes said.
