Reporting a power outage could not be much simpler with SIEA’s new text outage reporting feature. Text OUT to SMTHUB (768482). That’s it.

“Outage communication by text is something our members want, our operations needs, and our bottom-line benefits from,” Communications Manager Paris Elliott said.

San Isabel Electric recommends saving SMTHUB, (768482) to your contacts for quick access. SMTHUB is an abbreviation for SmartHub, the electric cooperative’s mobile account management app.

There are a few caveats. The text must come from a mobile number registered for texting capability. A mobile number can be registered anytime using the SmartHub app or SmartHub online. To sign up for SmartHub, go to SIEA.com/SmartHub or download the app from a smart phone app store. The feature is also not yet available for SIEA member-owners that have more than one account or meter.

Outages can also be reported with SmartHub online or with the SmartHub app, and members can always call 800-279-SIEA (7432) to report outages. SIEA’s outage reporting line is staffed 24/7.

Outage status updates are posted online at siea.com every two hours during large power outages between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. Large outages affect more than 100 meters.
